Description 9-1-1 is a telecommunications service that enables the general public to report emergencies by calling a Universal Emergency Telephone Number, 9-1-1.
AT&T offers the following 9-1-1 services where available:
- Basic 9-1-1 (B9-1-1) - Routes all calls from telephone numbers beginning with a given central office prefix code to the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) served by that central office.
- Enhanced 9-1-1 (E9-1-1) - Adds features to enhance Basic 9-1-1, such as selective routing of 9-1-1 calls to a specific PSAP when various PSAPs serve customers within a central office's area.
